European financial watchdogs are tightening scrutiny on social media influencers promoting speculative assets. The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and Italy's CONSOB issued joint guidance clarifying that crypto promotions constitute regulated investment advice under EU law—regardless of disclaimers.

Informal posts about tokens or derivatives now carry legal consequences. "Telling followers what to buy requires authorization," CONSOB emphasized, drawing a sharp distinction between marketing consumer goods and financial products.
